Did you know? A famous classical piece is named after Brigg. Not a joke

Did you know? Brigg has its own famous piece of music. Classical music.
Concert halls. Orchestras. Brigg.
"Brigg Fair" is a traditional folk song sung by Lincolnshire singer Joseph Taylor. In 1907, composer Percy Grainger recorded Taylor singing it on a wax cylinder, shortly after a music festival in Brigg. That recording survives.
The British Library digitised it in 2018, so you can still hear it. Taylor only knew two verses, so Grainger added three more from other songs. Then the composer Frederick Delius heard Grainger's version and turned it into an orchestral work, first performed in 1908.
Taylor was a guest at the first performance. The fair itself is said to have been held in Brigg every year since 1205, on 5 August. That's older than most countries.
