Breaking: Tinie Tempah to visit Scunthorpe, ending the longest wait in British music history

In 2010, Tinie Tempah stood before the nation and said: "I been Southampton but I've never been to Scunthorpe." It went to number one. Scunthorpe took it personally. Quietly. For 16 years.

Well, pack away the grudge. He's confirmed he will finally visit. Southampton, you've had your turn.

This is all down to local fan Ben Johns, who started an online campaign. The deal: 5,000 pre-saves for Tinie's new album and he'd come to town. Fans did it. Scunthorpe United and John Leggott College backed it too. A town uniting behind a pre-save. Historians will write about this.

In a video Tinie said: "I can't wait to come down to Scunny, and meet the wonderful people. It's been long overdue." Long overdue is one way of putting it. Library books get fined for less. His management are planning "something special". We'd settle for him saying the line again, but with a tick this time.
